What is the Erasmus Mundus programme?
The Erasmus Mundus program is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a center of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Master Courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals as well as students from one of the EU Member States as well as from the EEA-EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) participating in these Masters courses.

What is the amount of the Erasmus Mundus scholarships?
Erasmus Mundus students receives 26,000 EURO during the three semesters of the Masters program (18 months x 1,000 EURO + 8,000 EURO). The tuition fee is paid directly by the scholarship. Beside this, they are also provided students with a health and accident insurance.
How and when are the payments made?
EMSHIP awarded students with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are advised that scholarship payments are exclusively made by bank transfer and that the EMSHIP consortium cannot advance any cash payment. Due to the administrative procedure, the first payment may be delayed about one month upon formal arrival of the student to the institution.
How much are the tuition fees?
EMSHIP tuition fees are the following:
- EU applicants: 9000 EURO.
- Non-EU applicants: 9000 EURO.
Note that depends on the final number of self-funding registered EMSHIP students on the academic year; we would be able make a reduction for the tuition fees.
How do I pay my tuition fees?
All students are expected to pay their fees by bank transfert before arrival at ULiège. If you are awarded with an EM Scholarship then the scholarship will pay for your tuition fee.
Emship degree ?
The students that fully succeed the EMSHIP education program will got the double master degree composed of :
- Advanced Master in Naval Architecture - MCC degree delivered by University of Liege (ULiège), Belgium,
- Master of Sciences in Applied Mechanics, specialization in Hydrodynamics, Energetics and Propulsion†degree delivered by Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN), France, delivered by Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN), France, and the
- Diploma supplement (details of courses) for the third semester done in the Third University.
The education program will start on 15th Sept and all lectures are given in English. Courses are including "Advanced Structures" and "CFD Education" as well as "Yacht Design”, "Production Technology" and "Offshore Wind Structure Engineering". The duration of the education is 18 months composing of 3 mobility’s in European Universities. First Semester will start in University of Liege, Belgium.
How much is the average course load?
An EMSHIP Advance Master student averages a 30 hours study week between class and home work.
What are the content of the courses?
Each Semester has its own courses and Lab works. Please, check the Course description for each partner University
Can I spend the whole program at University of Liege or do I have to study in three different institutions?
The EMSHIP Advance Master program has duration of 1.5year. In each semester, students will be transfered to a different university to obtain a degree + diploma. The rules of European commission have to be followed in this regard.
Who can apply for EMSHIP?
Generally, the minimum requirement for an applicant is to have specialty in Naval, Marine, Offshore, Ocean Engineering or related fields like Mechanical and Aerospace Eng, Material Eng,Civil Eng and Physics

Candidates having already a bachelor/master degree (see eligibility conditions) in another engineering field that would like to get a specialization in Offshore Structuresand Ship Design.

Active engineering officers with 3-5 years seafaring work experiences, which are looking for new knowledge to better fulfill their carrier objectives. There is indeed a large demand from ship-owners and port authorities to hire such officers, knowing what on-board service is, to manage and maintain their fleet.

Candidates looking for complementary education in the Sailing Pleasure Crafts and Mega/Motor Yachts, but also in Safer and Cleaner Marine and Fluvial Transportation Mode.

When can we expect any Admission notification for Erasmus Mundus scholarship?
Candidates will be informed of the action taken on their applications and our proposal to European commission no later than 1st March. AwardedCandidates for Erasmus Mundus scholarship should be aware that it is imperative that their Acceptanceletter must be received by selection committeeno later than April 1st.
I am in the reserved list; do I still have a chance of getting the Erasmus mundus scholarship?
If you are top 5 in the reserved list, you may have a chance in case of any resigning happens from the awarded candidates in the main list. Beside, you can apply for “alternative scholarship” early in April.
How I can apply for Alternative scholarship?
Usually, in March the Selection Committee announce available alternative scholarships. For more information about these scholarships, please visit www.emship.eu.
Afterwards, we will send the scholarship application form to the applicants on the reserved list. The result will be announced in June.
